Split system HEAT PUMP Water Heater
Heat pump water heaters work on the same premise as heat pumps in that they use electricity to transmit heat from one location to another, substantially reducing energy use. The compressor unit for most heat pump water heaters is housed within the house. A split system heat pump water, on the other hand, has a different setup. The compressor, like mini-split heat pumps, is placed outside the home and gets its heat from outside air rather than internal air.
One of the biggest advantages of a split system heat pump water heater over a hybrid heat pump water heater is that in the winter, the cool air isn't dumped into your home. Traditional tank-style water heaters use significantly more energy than hybrid heat pump systems. They do, however, come with an "energy penalty" in the winter because they extract heat from within your home and return cooler air. The temperature of the interior air is lowered as a result of this procedure. While the extra cool air may be beneficial in the summer, it can place additional strain on your home heating system in the winter.
